RIVER OAKS. A historical landmark as well as a shopping haven, River Oaks was built in Modern style in the late 1930s. Its signature architecture imparts it with extra character, and its shops are, without fail, upscale and classy. The pedestrian-friendly clutch of businesses includes Talbot's, Ann Taylor, Sur La Table, Max Nugus, Jos. A Bank, J. Jill, and Gap. A number of cafes also call the place home, as do Sherlock's Pub and Marfreless, a romantic lounge that's a longtime city favorite.
